71 candidates for Violin 2019
We are delighted to announce the 71 talented young violinists admitted to the 2019 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition!

71 candidates
We count no less than 49 women and 22 men, representing 20 different nationalities. Discover their names in the document below or find out more about them in the list of Violin 2019 candidates.

172 applicants have taken their chance to apply for this 19th violin session. Each of them had recorded four works for the video preselection round : a sonata for solo violin by J.S. Bach, a caprice by Paganini, a sonata by Mozart, Beethoven, or Schubert, and a work of the candidate's choice, with piano accompaniment.

Preselection jury
At the end of January, Pierre Amoyal, Patrice Fontanarosa, Lorenzo Gatto, Victor Kissine, Mihaela Martin and Natalia Prischepenko gathered in Brussels, for the first time under the supervision of our new Jury Chairman Gilles Ledure. They had the arduous task of screening all the candidates' videos in order to select the violinists who can perform in the first public round at Studio 4 of Flagey (Brussels, from April 29 until May 4). The names of the other jury members will be announced at the end of March.

Information and reservation
More details about this year's competition can be found in the Violin 2019 menu. The order in which the candidates will appear in the first public round will be announced after the drawing of lots, on Friday night April 26. Don't miss out on the opportunity to hear some of the world's most prodigious young violinists at work at Flagey or the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts and book your ticket now!
